Next Change In Path Of Exile: League 3.3.0

In one month, the next major launch of Path of Exile - now known as Content Update 3.3.0 - will begin. While it is too early to reveal the full details of this release, we would like to answer some general questions about your scope so you have an idea of what to expect (and how much).

Will 3.3.0 be an Expansion League?

After a few years alternating expansions and leagues, we launched two expansions one after another in 2017. Our March launch blurred the line between expansion and the league (with a league being thrown along with a significant restatement of the Ascendancy, introduction of the fight with the Uber Elder and new skills). We expect 3.3.0 to be done in a similar way. It is marked as a league, but it is certainly a great launch compared to leagues of the past.

Parallel to this, we are also working on our next major expansion that will be launched later this year.

How will the League 3.3.0 be?

When planning league 3.3.0, we wanted to strengthen the core of what makes Path of Exile fun: kill monsters, gain experience and receive items in all areas you enter. We'll talk more about this league when it's being announced next month. If you have enjoyed leagues involving killing monsters such as Ambush and Breach, you will surely like this one.

What else will be included in 3.3.0?

Along with smaller features you'll be able to read about on Ad Day, one of the great features of 3.3.0 will be skill redesign to make it easy to build new builds. Usually we would not talk about this balancing information until the day of the announcement, but I've been encouraged by the team to write news that explains the changes so you can give us feedback and start thinking about new builds. Along with reworking, we'll also have a lot of Trap skills that go hand in hand with the balancing changes that will make snipers much more powerful in this league. You can read some advance information about the reformulations posted by the team here and here.

We believe that all Path of Exile releases need to be a well-made and rewarding league, along with enough skill changes to have as many interesting builds as you want to test on that content.

How much is 3.3.0? When should I take time off work?

Currently we want to release 3.3.0 on June 1, a Friday. The Xbox One version will be released after the weekend, as close as possible to the PC version. Although we are very confident on this date (because league 3.3.0 and several of its balancing changes are already in their improvement phase), it can still change if something unexpected happens. We will announce the final date approximately in the next month.

Are you going to do an Alpha Test for 3.3.0?

Yes, come on, after the announcement of the contents next month. Please do not apply for the Alpha test based on this reading - it does not work that way.

What will happen to the Supporter Packs? When will the packages of the War for the Atlas disappear?

3.3.0 will have its own set of league supporter packs. When these are released, Bestiary's will leave the store (we'll let you know before that happens, obviously). The Atlas War packages will continue to be sold until our next major expansion, which will also be announced in advance so you can plan your purchase appropriately.

Are you still improving on Bestiary?

Yes, along with the development of 3.3.0, we are working on your feedback and fixing issues in the Bestiary League. An example is to solve the problem where Yellow / Red beasts can be smashed or their bodies destroyed, preventing Necromancer Nets from functioning in them.

Are we going to have any race event before the end of 3.2.0?

Yes, we are planning a Flashback event at the end of May, on both the PC and Xbox One. We'll post more information as we get closer! This does not override the possibility of inviting races in the community, which we are also trying to make happen.
